Family Mentorship (Spring 2016)
-I was paired with a Physical Therapy Student from the University of Mary. -We made several visits and observed a child with down syndrome, clubfoot, and arthrogryposis. -Because of the severeness of her disabilities, she was not able to go to a public school. She had all of her schooling and therapy at home. -We observed a full time nurse, Occupational Therapy session, Physical Therapy session, Speech Language Pathologist session, and Special Education session. They collaborated with each other to give her the best education possible. ELA Minneapolis Trip (Spring 2015)
-Volunteered at Dorothy Day Homeless Shelter -Toured a Cristo Rey Jesuit High School -A school for children of low income backgrounds to receive a quality education -Provides jobs for all students during a designated day of the week. -Toured a Transitional School -Talked to students who had a tough time in school about how to teach students like them. -Ate at and toured the Global Market |
